Green Roofs in the New York Metropolitan Region evaluates the capacity of green roofs to mitigate urban heat island
and storm water runoff in NYC. It is the first publication emerging from a multidisciplinary research project entitled
The New York Ecological Infrastructure Study (NYEIS)—which is a collaboration among
the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, Columbia University's Center for Climate Systems Research,
the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, The Columbia Earth Institute, Earthpledge,
and Community Cartography. Towers and Rothstein consulted to the institutional partners of NYEIS and
wrote the Epilogue to this report.
